Welcome to the Singing School

These songs are for your class to have fun with.
They are easy enough to be learned quickly.
Some of them help with learning.

They will help to bring your class together as a group for a few minutes each day.
And leave them feeling good about themselves.

They allow some children to lead.
They allow the others to operate as a team.
They invite all of them to join in a creative, fun process, sometimes by adding their own lines or verses.

The songs can be taught by your children to other classes.
They can also be sung at home, in the car, or on the bus.
They can be performed to an audience.

Singing them regularly will improve aural skills.
And performance skills.
And reading. And listening. And vocabulary. And speaking.

They are especially useful for practising English by singing in English.

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions (and answers, of course!) about downloading from Sing In Class…

  • Will it take long to download?

The Sing In Class downloads are still pretty big (between 35 and 100mb), despite being zipped up.

Depending on the speed of the broadband, it might take up to 30 minutes to complete the download – but in many cases it will download in under 3 minutes.

Please be aware that you only have limited attempts to download your Sing In Class purchase.

  • How do I save my files?

You must SAVE the zip-file containing the PDF sheet music (read only) and the MP3 files of the vocal performance and backing tracks to your computer.

You can either do this from the confirmation page after you’ve paid via PayPal, or  from the download link in your email receipt.

Right click on the file link and select ‘Save As’ (PC) or ‘Download Linked File As’ (Mac).

  • I have downloaded my Sing In Class file but I can’t find it on my computer. Where is it!?

If you are downloading to your own personal computer, the download will have gone into the download folder on your hard drive.

If you are downloading in a school, the download may go straight on to your server and you may have to ask the person in charge of your IT to retrieve it for you.

  • How do I unzip my downloaded file?

Depending on your computer’s settings and operating sysytem, your file may need to be unzipped manually, although nowadays this is often done automatically.

On PC this usually means right clicking on the downloaded .zip file and selecting ‘Extract All’, but may vary depending on your operating system. If you’re using a school server, you may need help from the person in charge of IT.

  • Can I put the MP3 song files onto our internal school network?

Yes, please share them around your school as that’s what they’re for! We think all classes in school can benefit from the Sing In Class songs.

However, the songs cannot be placed on to a parent portal, website, VLE/MLE or shared beyond the school.Sharing song files beyond your school network could constitute illegal file sharing and be a breach of copyright law.

  • Am I allowed to share the Sing In Class PDFs and MP3s with another school, club, church or drama group?

No, this download is for your school or group only and can only be shared with the pupils of your school, as per copyright.

However, if you can remember any of the tunes and the words, please feel free to teach them to others (just remember to tell them where to check out singinclass.ddev.site to get their own copy!)
